Innovation and demonstration of digital intelligence for global cross-border supply chains in a “single window” environment

Project name: Innovation and demonstration of digital intelligence for global cross-border supply chains in a “single window” environment

Tender title: Internal tender for the awarding of financial incentives for the development of the scientific research activity of the University of Maribor from the aspects of quality, creativity, innovation, internationalization, openness, knowledge transfer and cooperation with the environment within the framework of project applications – call in 2024

Time frame: 1. 10. 2024 – 31. 12. 2025

Project coordinator: University of Maribor, Faculty of Logistics

Brief summary of the project:

The project will seek to integrate digital intelligence into cross-border supply chains between Asia, Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and other key trading regions, using a “single window” system for international trade. Already in use in parts of the EU, Asia and other countries, this system simplifies customs processing by harmonizing the exchange of standardized data in cross-border trade and logistics. Despite these advantages, global supply chains still face challenges such as the lack or incompatibility of Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructures, data standardization issues, fragmented disconnected blockchain systems, and the complexities of international logistics. The project will address challenges by enabling seamless cross-border processes, improving resource sharing and establishing and integrating digital technologies to create intelligent supply chains to connect across regions such as the EU, Asia, Southeast Asia and North America.

The project will develop a global mechanism for resource sharing, build a framework for the digital transformation of cross-border trade and logistics data, and develop algorithms for the coordinated management of logistics processes. In addition, it will address the integration of various implementations of blockchain technologies to enable seamless international cooperation in the exchange of information and goods. The goal will be the interoperability of blockchain systems, the standardization of data on cross-border trade and logistics, and the optimization of the efficiency of supply chains.
